Sports. For so many its a big part of their lives. They always catch the big game on TV, they are always attending the big matchups and even traveling to other cities to keep up with their favorite teams and players. The passion and commitment to sports, especially the teams they root for is incredible!! Its a 80 billion dollar industry that helps drive our economy.
So when it comes to our kids its just natural for us transfer that passion and commitment to them. Not only for the teams that you root for but for teams they play on.
Over the past 10+ years the Youth Sports industry has exploded. Some of you reading this may already have kids in some sort of travel or competitive program and know what I am talking about. Its an mazing thing to be a part of. The camaraderie, the friendships made and the excitement of see the kids succeed is something to behold. And its as big a commitment as anything you have ever done. The travel, the cost, the time…holy cow the time!!
So what is the value in that then?? The opportunity to support and engage them in a meaningful, personalized and impactful way. The opportunity to get involved in the communities you want to do business in. And the opportunity to do so while earning the trust, loyalty and the appreciation of your potential clients. Technology has played an important role is being able to reach consumers on a large scale and thats a great thing. However with that comes a flood of ads and intrusions that could be viewed by many as clutter and noise. Standing out from that is that goal.
For many years the teams and leagues we played on were supported by local businesses and selling booster stickers to our neighbors. While that model worked for many years I think it is about time for an upgrade. Just as the landscape of Youth Sports has changed the way we support our youths athletic endeavors and promote exercise and a healthy living needs to be viewed from a different viewpoint as well.
Busy families are being pulled in so many different directions. Technology has made the world a smaller place. Engaging consumers where they are is more important than ever. Youth Sports provides that opportunity.
